What do you do about pet food and kitty litter? We're down to cutting the cat off from her litter box to keep the Boy out of the bathroom half the time, and either cutting the cat off from her food by accident or she's knocking it off the table trying to get to it, just to keep it out of his hands.

What are your solutions?

I have noticed for dogs that discipline is the only way. When they doo doo on the carpet. you pick them up, smash their nose in their mistake and say "no no no!!" If you do this over and over again, they finnally realize that it is not to crap on your carpet. Also never feed your dogs table scraps. Ony dogfood brands using pedigree dog food coupons ,or purina.

Hope i can help,

Thanks,

John

I have a crawler and a dog. she is constantly trying to put her hands in his water dish and pick up pieces of food out of his dish. I just tell her no as she is crawling towards it and sometimes she stops and sits up or crawls back to me or sometimes she just keeps going... i just have to keep an eye on her and/or ear listening to hear her crawling on the kitchen floor.

I bought a biggish dog crate and put the kitty box in the crate. Then I turned the crate so that the open side was toward the wall. There's enough room for the cat to slide in but not enough room for the dog or the toddler to get in there. Alternatively, if you have a spare corner you can face the opening into the corner; the cat can jump on the box and down into the corner to get in. You may be able to use a cardboard box to good effect, depending on how determined your baby is.

The food is on a high shelf in the library. The toddler, however, thinks it is hilarious to sneak a handful of dog or cat food occasionally. I discourage this, but it's probably not going to kill her so I don't get worked up about it.
