Well, here it goes.....On Saturday November 22, 2008 we put our wonderful 2 1/2 yr old family dog to rest. She had Leukemia and we didn't even know! She was only acting like she was hurt for a day or two before the vet visit. After the blood was drawn, the vet told us the news. DaisieMae was at 3% red blood cells and she was supposed to be at 45%! She did not have any white blood cell count! I was completely shocked as was my husband. We couldn't believe it, she was so strong and didn't act sick at all. It was a very horrible decision to make but we opted to have her put down by lethal injection. My daughter, Marena, was in the room with us when she died. Here is my problem., after we got home and we had ourselves a good cry( about 4 days for me) Marena went to school and told her friends what happened. Now all her little friends are saying I am a murderer because I chose to kill our dog. Parents won't let their kids come over because I didn't try to save my dog! I am extremely upset at this reaction. If we had tried to save Daisie, we would have had to spend a fortune for blood transfusions that might not have worked. I love my DaisieMae very much and to me it is like I lost a child. Does anyone else have a similiar situation they could share with me? Any advice on how to deal with cruel people?
