I have a 19 month old wont sit on her potty and no matter what I do it's as if she is affraid off it. Than to top it off when i ask her if she wast o go potty she will spend days or even weeks using baby talk what can I do to try and fix these problemes
I think 19 months is a little early for potty training. I would just wait until she is at least 2 yrs old to bring up the potty training subject again. It's easier if you don't push. Maybe read a variety of books on potty training and see which style you'll want to implement.
she just may not be ready for the potty. Just keep it out and let her go on it when/if she wants to. Forcing it may make her want to do it less! My daughter is 2 1/2 and still has no interest in the potty!
There's nothing wrong with a child that young using baby talk. Don't struggle with her over things you can't control; you will just teach her that she can drive you up a wall by doing baby stuff.
If you talk to her and other people talk around her, then she'll learn to speak like an adult all on her own. Babies are wired to do that- if it doesn't work, you have a developmental problem.
19 months is young to insist on potty training. If you have a real need to do this right now, switch to a rewards-only system and try to take the pressure off her. One of the best things you can do for potty training is modeling- leave the bathroom door open so she can see you go potty and eventually, she will do it like you. Toddlers are amazing mimics, they always want to do what they see the grown-ups do.
But for rewards, you may have to start by rewarding her for even being interested in the potty. Start small. Let her play with a dolly on the potty. Give the dolly a treat (which of course, your daughter will eat) for sitting on the potty. Empty dirty diapers in to the potty so she gets an idea for how this works. Bribery is powerful.
But bribery works best on its own. Resist the urge to pressure her, yell at her, try not to be negative in any way. Give it some time. If she's willing to sit on the potty with a diaper on after a few days of this, reward that. Little steps.
