My two year old wont sleep all night can anyone help

I have a two year old son he will be three in june and he wont stay asleep. Getting him to bed isn't the problem but at around 4 every morning he wakes screaming and wanting to get into our bed. I dont understand he has neverslept in our bed not even when he was a baby. He does suffer with nightmares sometimes however I can tell the difference between the two. It is now getting to be a battle of wills. I have tried putting him back in his bed but he will not relent and we both end up with no sleep and we are very irratable the next day my husband and I are exhausted and with another baby coming in 8 weeks time feel we need this to stop can anyone help?

is he still napping? If so, cut the nap - 1 week of hell and he will be sleeping better at night.

Well, my daughter is the same age as your and will be 3 in july. She does not like to go to bed. Always has excuses like I need to brush my teeth, or I am thirsty, or I need the light on anything to stay awake. So, I end up singing to her and finally she ends up sleeping. Does he take a nap in the afternoon?

Right now, My little one did not take her nap and then when daddy comes home you would think she would be tired....oh, no she is wide awake. I am not a professional, but I all I can tell you is that they are going through a phase, if it still continues I would consult his pediatrician and see what he or she says. I told mine, he told me that at this stage they are active and they won't go to sleep because they think they would miss out on something. So, what really works is when we turn off the light and play her the "Sound of Music" and then we have lights flickering back and forth in the room, she ends up falling a sleep. We can hear her count the light dots :) which is too funny!
