Interesting post! We actually have an interestingly similar, yet different issue. Our 1 year old twins are boy/girl, different sizes, different skin tones, different hair textures, etc. A lot of people aren't sure if they're twins, even though to us, it's kind of a "duh!" topic. We even got the question the other day "Are they related?". So, yes... we get a little crazy about the comments about how different they look... and I can understand how it might be similar to hearing so often how similar they look! Have you figured out any savvy replies or comments?? :)
I get lots of comments about the boys. Most people ask how I can tell them apart, to which I reply, "I just can." Then I point out the few differences the boys have. But when I wrote that comment, I was talking mostly about my family. Some of my brother-in-laws just call them "the twins" when they talk to them. Or say "Hi Logan and/or Jack". It just seems so rude!
The other comment I get is "Oooh, double trouble". And I absolutely hate that people say that about the boys. So I reply, "No, we say twice as nice."
Going out in public is always an experience, although it's gotten better. When they were little women would ask me about sleeping arrangements, breast feeding & how I got pregnant with them. (The boys slept in their own cribs after four months; I was only able to breast feed for two weeks, and I got pregnant the old fashioned way!) But the point is that complete strangers would ask me the MOST personal questions! It was really uncomfortable.
I also hate when people don't know what they are talking about. Everyone seems to be a twin expert, and it makes me nuts!
Okay, enough venting... despite it all, I wouldn't trade those two bubbly boys for anything!!!
