About My Family

One hubby: Steve, one baby: Charlotte, one mini dachshund: Penelope. We moved to the burbs a year ago from NYC. We bought an old house and we're renovating it mostly ourselves, which has been really hard with a baby. I wouldn't recommend it! The kitchen is almost done and it looks great. (We started in March.) We're trying to enjoy ourselves more and spend less time on the house. As for me, I'm a writer. I write for Babble's Droolicious site and I'm a playwright. (I use my maiden name for my plays - Horsburgh)

Charlotte - 14 months

How would you describe your parenting philosophy?

I'm still figuring that out.

What are your family’s favorite books and toys?

Charlotte likes small plastic toys that probably have all the bad stuff in them. Her favorites are her bath squirters and Fisher Price Little People. I probably shouldn't admit this on Babble but I got tired of keeping them away from her and they make her really happy. Her sippy cups are PVC free, though!

What are your family's favorite foods?

Well, Steve and I love sushi. Charlotte loves mac and cheese. Penelope loves everything but her favorite is probably bacon. We love bacon, too.

What are your family's favorite places to hang out?

Scarsdale has a lot of great playgrounds. I also like spending time in our living room/family room. We have a lot of windows and there is so much green outside. It's practically the size of our apartment when we lived in NYC so it feels very spacious. Hopefully, next summer we'll spend more time in our yard. Charlotte is just getting out of that stage where she eats everything she picks up.

What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?

Lively

What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?

Unfortunately, Charlotte might get the acting bug (like her mamma). She's already quite the performer!

Describe your most humbling parenting moment.

Labor! No, that's not parenting. Um... the first time Charlotte got sick. It was terrifying for me. I felt so helpless.
