Describe your most humbling parenting moment.

One evening during Will's evening bath we noticed a red spot on his penis. We immediately start Googling and come to find out it is a small penile adhesion that had pulled free, but the other side of the head still had some skin sticking to it. We freak out thinking that we haven't been taking care of Will as well as we should, how could we miss something like that? When he was circumcised at the hospital we asked about caring for it and were told just cover it in vaseline- do not touch the skin while it is healing. His pediatrician at the two month checkup said just wash carefully around it. Well at six months this happens and our pediatrician says- "yea, its fairly common but we don't tell parents about it because they might worry too much" We didn't realize how aggressive we needed to be in pulling the skin back at every diaper change and every bath. We felt so bad for Will and so embarassed that we had let something so preventable happen to him.
