I love Dr. Seuss...

...and so does Wilhelm. We read Seuss books every day. Right now my favorite is "One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish" but it changes from week to week.
He likes "One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish" too and when we get to the page with "here are some who likes to run
they run for fun in the hot hot sun

oh me, oh my
oh me, oh my
what a lot of funny things go by"

He takes his pacifier out and says meomy meomy and laughs, it's great.

Is my son turning into a lion?

I have a boy, Wilhelm, he's almost fifteen months old and lovely. He did all of his firsts quite early so far. He was turning by four months, sitting by six and standing up holding onto things at 7 months. He started talking saying mamma and daddy and titta (Swedish for look) and dedans (French for inside) all in that order. Then he learned to roar like a lion.

Wilhelm, like most other kids, love animals. He could spend a whole day just looking through his books with pictures of animals. He lov… Continue

Sorry I've taken so long...again...
Happy Birthday W!!!!!!!
How has he been feeling?
You know...fevers are the body's way of fighting off viruses...maybe W is just really efficient...always fighting off the virus and not getting sick!
Ok...can't wait to hear about the birthday festivities!
We'll plan something soon...the eco museum is great...it's an animal reserve (check out their website)...very natural feel to it. It's a lovely, calm place.
Ok...Cara is pulling at my leg!

I just wanted to let you know about a podcast...One Thing in a French Day. It is absolutely fabulous. It is a French woman (she lives just outside of Paris) who talks about her day. She's in her thirties...and has 2 small children. It is really good...check it out...just download it to your ipod. There are over 300 in the archives and she does 2-3 new podcasts per week!
If you don't ipod...you can go to her website...www.onethinginafrenchday.com. You can listen AND read the text.
Hope you are having a great day!

Hi...better late than never...right?
Hope all is well...sorry you had a rough week...did the following week get better? How is W? Feeling better?
We have had a busy couple of weeks...but nothing really out of the ordinary to report.
You asked if there was lots to do here in the WI...yes, there is. I don't do it all..but I take advantage of what I can. Libraries and story groups...swim, gym, parks, eco museum, movies, play dates. We should have one...one day.
So...have you signed up for French Lessons? Rented any good French DVDs? Watched TV5?
Oh...and magazines...pick up some of those French Tabloid magazines (Voici or Paris Match...they are easy and fun reads...and great for the vocab)
Ok...better go...

We speak English at home...my husband understands French and can get by...but he is by no means bilingual. I figure the girls will be exposed to quite a bit of French in school and life...so...
Wow...trilingual...that's fabulous...but it sounds exhausting. It's worth every effort though...babies and young children are like sponges. He will end up speaking all three languages beautifully and naturally.
Ooops...my little one is up from her nap...better go...
Let me know how your week has been...have you signed up for courses?

Well...hmmm...a move to Sweden would be quite the big adventure for your family and Montreal is a great place to live and a wonderful place to raise a child.
You are a smart woman..you'll pick up the French easily...sign yourself up for lessons and rent some gorgeous dvds...like Paris Je T'aime, Chacun Cherche son Chat and watch them in the original version. I swear it works! That and TV5. Not trying to be anti-Quebec...but train yourself with the French French...it's beautiful and a pleasure to practice...much clearer and, therefore, easier to learn. Go on...you can do it!
Did he get the cookies?

I know...the language issue is ridiculous.
I lived in Paris for 10 years and (1) they laugh at the fact that we have ARRET signs and not STOP signs. They are all STOP signs in France...STOP is a French word for goodness sake. (2) many Quebec tv shows and documentaries are aired with subtitles in France...imagine...the French don't understand what French Quebecers are saying. I speak French...with great ease..but my mother tongue is English. My children will be educated in English as well. Did your husband grow up in Montreal? If he did, was he educated in English?
Sigh...I hope Quebec will evolve out of this language issue eventually.
You're right...the parks are great! Montreal is also the most European city in North America. New York and Montreal...the only 2 cities in NA that allow you to live properly!
Ok...better get back out and enjoy one of the great parks on the island of Montreal...before the sun takes off!

Yikes...where does the time go...sorry I've taken so long to get back to you.
We love Indigo as well.
The plateau is a lot of fun...so much to do and see.
I grew up close to downtown...on Ridgewood just off Cote des Neiges...so the West Island is new. So far so good...knock wood.
From what I've read you did not grow up in Montreal...do you like it?

I know..they are very different...but it's so nice to hear that you can see the similarities:)
We live in Pointe-Claire...so most of our hanging out is here...we love Chapters. In Montreal...we hang out in the Plateau area because my brother and sister live there and Old Montreal because there's lots to do...we love it there.
You?
