About My Family

My husband and I are artists who live in northeast Wisconsin. We adopted (domestic) our daughter in February 2008 and finally lost that deer-in-the-headlights feeling that comes with brand new parenthood. Now we have a new frightened look: parents of a toddler.

What are your children's names and birth dates?

Anka Eve - born 11/02/2007 and welcomed into our family 02/04/08

How would you describe your parenting philosophy?

Eclectic ... gathered from a variety of sources but, ultimately, made our own.

What are your family’s favorite books and toys?

Books, books, books -- any and all, but especially books about going to bed and anything with lots of color and crazy illustrations. Balls. Stacking blocks and cups. Buckles and straps. Crayons and art supplies.

What are your family's favorite foods?

Anka is allergic to all dairy, eggs and peanuts, and she's something of a picky eater, so our options can be limited. She likes soy yogurt, soy nut butter, fruit, rice cakes, chicken and turkey, pancakes (a special no-dairy, no-egg mix) and applesauce. Those of us who are big people like pizza, anything on the grill, pasta and veggies.

What are your family's favorite places to hang out?

Hiking trails ... beach ... coffee shop. Our living room, which is starting to resemble a daycare center, and the property around our house.

What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?

Evolving.

What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?

Food inspector.
