It's the three of us--Dad, Me, and our Elie! We live a simple life, we both work full-time jobs at opposite shifts, and our house is run by the queen.
What are your children's names and birth dates?
Eleanor is 2.
Are you considering having more?
I would absolutely love more children, but we are experiencing little economic woes and now isn't the time.
How would you describe your parenting philosophy?
Attachment. I will admit that I like to hover a bit much, but I really feel it's because she's our only child.
What's your favorite parenting book (if any)?
I'm a fan of Dr. Sears.
What are your family’s favorite books and toys?
I'm the reader, and I read anything from trashy romance novels to Tess of The D'urbervilles. Elie has followed me into the reading fanaticism, and she loves anything with animals in it--Goodnight Gorilla, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, etc.
What are your family’s favorite TV shows or movies?
Gabe and I like to watch movies after we get her to sleep--we usually rent them (that's kind of like a date to us). Elie enjoys Sesame Street and Super Why.
What are your family's favorite foods?
My daughter doesn't like to eat and has a couple of food allergies, so eating is sort of related to tension and apprehension. But all picky eating toddlers aside, we love anything un-American: Indian is our comfort food, sushi hits the spot, and who can resist a nice fat Italian meal?
What are your family's favorite places to hang out?
The little cafe in the neighborhood where we live, and the living room.
What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?
Colorful.
What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?
I can see her doing almost anything.
Describe your most humbling parenting moment.
My mother raised her voice. Alot. I find myself having to consciously break away from that on a daily basis. That can be pretty humbling.
Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?
Anyone like us--young, caught by surprise, un-married(gasp!) and maybe even poor like us, too. We're out there, under the radar.
