About My Family

I have an 11mo. old daughter. 2 cats. a Battle Beta. And a star wars nerd husband. I love them all dearly.

What are your children's names and birth dates?

Kalina Asaj Russell is 11 mo. old.

Are you considering having more?

Not at this time.

How would you describe your parenting philosophy?

I dissagree with the unnatural seperation that western society had implemented on the parent child relationship. If there was a difinitve philosophy that I would fit in with it would be attachment-style parenting. I try and give her things that are close to the source, whether it be food or clothing I would prefer it to be organic or something I made myself. I'm not a crazy neo-hippy, but i do like things as pure as possible.

What are your family’s favorite books and toys?

We like "everything poops", as well as any interactive books with flaps to lift or fur to pet.

What are your family’s favorite TV shows or movies?

We like Science Fiction. We also like Heroes and some anime. Kalina likes her baby signs dvd and also any miyazaki films.

What are your family's favorite foods?

We like vegetarian fare. Indian, japanese, and mexican are the favs.

What are your family's favorite places to hang out?

Parks, museums, gyboree play and music, record stores, ampitheaters, ect.

What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?

What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?

I try not to think about that becuase I don't want to project.

Describe your most humbling parenting moment.

So far the act of giving birth has been the most humbling experinace of my life. Nature is ancient but supprises us all.

Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?

Other parents who I can communicate with. Hopefully make some new friends and get some input. I've been looking for a place to meet others who represent the "new" parent. I think we are redefining the roles of parents with our generation.
