About My Family
We're a small family of 3 - A film maker, a social worker, and a toddler. We have 2 cats who are "our first babies", and together we try to live a life that is creative, easy going, no fuss, no drama.

What are your children's names and birth dates?
Dorothea Elizabeth Cook, April 10, 2008
Are you considering having more?
yes! (we're adopting)
How would you describe your parenting philosophy?
No baby proofing! We don't protect her from the world, but teach her how to live in it. It doesn't make sense to just cover up all the outlets in the house, because the first time she sees an uncovered outlet, she's just going to stick her fingers right into it! Instead, she knows what it is and knows not to go near it.
What's your favorite parenting book (if any)?
Love and Logic
What are your family’s favorite books and toys?
A set of Bongo drums, "Goodnight Moon", "Where is the Green Sheep", a stuffed Elmo, and a wooden rocking chair.
What are your family’s favorite TV shows or movies?
Sesame Street, Sesame Street, Sesame Street (with an occasional Wonder Pets thrown in for Mommy and Daddy's sake!)
What are your family's favorite places to hang out?
Our living room
What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?
Organized chaos
What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?
Acting
Describe your most humbling parenting moment.
When my daughter reached out to grab my post baby tummy and was able to grab enough of a handful that I couldn't just pul her hand off - and she was laughing and saying "belly button!" the whole time.
Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?
Parents who value their child's emotional well being and need for independence.
