About My Family

My husband and I celebrated our ninth anniversary two weeks after our baby boy was born. We waited a long time for Andrew to enter our lives and how has it changed since that day! It is a daily adventure and just when we get used to doing things one way, Andrew mixes it up a bit, just to keep things exciting!

What are your children's names and birth dates?

Andrew, born September 2007

No

How would you describe your parenting philosophy?

Loving, gentle, consistent. I think consistency in parenting is very important.

What's your favorite parenting book (if any)?

Baby 411: it gave some practical advice regarding medical issues and didn't seem to make me feel guilty if I did something different!

What are your family’s favorite books and toys?

Andrew loves to "read" his books and look at the pictures. He now enjoys sitting in our laps to listen to stories too. Some favorites include many Sandra Boynton books, especially the going to bed book and barnyard dance. He lately has been into Are you my Mother and the Very Hungry Catapillar too.

What are your family’s favorite TV shows or movies?

Andrew does not really watch much TV yet. Occasionally we watch a few minutes of Yo Gabba Gabba with him. He prefers to play over watching TV, which I am happy with for now. There are many years ahead for him to develop an interest in the TV. He does seem to pay attention to the weather forecast and likes to look at the weather map.

What are your family's favorite foods?

Andrew loves veggies and fruits. Blueberries are his favorite followed by kiwi and bananas. He also eats salmon, lasagna, and chicken soup.

What are your family's favorite places to hang out?

at home or with friends, the playground, the supermarket.

What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?

child-centered.

What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?

Hopefully something that he finds fulfilling...and have financial security.

Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?

Friends with similar aged children. Parents who are either local for meet-ups or ones who simply want to have an email/internet relationship.
