- I teach in Rochester, NY and my husband teaches in Ithaca, so we have two households and switch off commuting. Our daughter Isadora was born this summer (six weeks early!) and for the moment I'm on maternity leave in Ithaca...or actually, the countryside outside it.

Enjoy every moment with your daughter, and know that it really does get easier. My friends all told me that the first year is the toughest, and it seems they were right. She's getting more and more fun as she grows.
