About My Family

I am a 36 yr old pregnant mother of a 13 yr old son, Jake. My partners name is Billy and we tried for almost a year for this baby with no results. 1 month after we accepted it just wasn't going to happen for us-hello second pink line on the test! Bill, Jake, mystery baby, and I are a very happy family!I am also currently a stay at home mom and I am starting some classes soon to work from home.

What are your children's names and birth dates?

Jake 13 yrs and I'm 14 weeks pregnant.

How would you describe your parenting philosophy?

Be kind. I am not a spanker (more the time out type), I think it is wrong that if I hit a stranger I can be arrested but it's permissable in anger, to hit a child? Respect others (even if you don't like them), treat people how you would like to be treated, and stand up for yourself and the underdog. I also make it clear that my kids could never-EVER do something that could make me not love them. Tho I may not agree with certain decisions, I will always be their mom and will always be in their corner.

What's your favorite parenting book (if any)?

All of them.I like learning different parenting styles.

What are your family’s favorite books and toys?

Right now favorite books are stephen king (for my son), for me I am reading alot of parenting books so down time involves simpler fare sucha s Jackie Collins. All time fave book"the giving tree" by shel silverstein-evry house should have it. We play alot of games such as Uno, Rummy, Monopoly, board games are awsome family times.

What are your family’s favorite TV shows or movies?

Bernie Mac, Fresh Prince, Cosby Show

What are your family's favorite foods?

Tacos, pizza, lots of pasta, spagetti, lasagna....and chocolate!

What are your family's favorite places to hang out?

we are happiest together, in our pj's, with lots of blankets, pillows and pizza, watching a movie or just talking.

What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?

Cozy

What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?

Jake wants to be a lawyer, he'd be a great teacher.

Describe your most humbling parenting moment.

Geez just 1? I am a recovering alcoholic, when I first got clean Jacob told me "mom I saw everyone giving up on you and I almost did too, but you taught me to never give up on someone you love." I thank God everyday for him, and the 2nd chance he gave me.

Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?

Hopefully other parents who have a teenager or a baby on the way at my age( or both!). It's hard to find pregnant women my age to talk to.
