I agree...when you are trying to find discussions it is disheartening that you have to go through pages of nothing to get to them....I hope the administration can figure out a way to stop this......it makes it hard to have people come back when they…
Hi, all,
We're in Ridgewood (about a half mile into Queens from Bushwick), but all of the trains and buses in our neighborhood are generally associated with Brooklyn. Pretty please, may I join? I miss living in Ft. Greene...
Hi all, greetings from this Ridgewood (Queens) stay-home dad with a seven-month-old baby boy!
We're both looking for company, mainly for him (though I'm sort of stir-crazy too) - anyone here interested in meeting up for a playgroup in one of the ci…
My baby has slept from about 8:00 to 7:00 am since he was about four months old - and takes three or four half-hour naps over the course of the day (these are lately getting shorter, though...which is a drag). We work on getting him ready for bed (s…
Co-signing on the fenugreek recommendation! My wife had trouble with milk production about a month ago (when our son was 6 months, and started really eating solid food in earnest), and took fenugreek extract tablets (which can be found in some drug…
We didn't circumcise our son, and my parents didn't circumcise me (that was apparently uncommon in the U.S. in the mid-70s, much more uncommon than it is now).
There are reasons for circumcision, but aside from the irrefutable (religious) ones, the…
More about this soon. Suffice it to say that I'm a stay-at-home dad with a baby son and a wonderful wife, taking care of baby while working on classes to get certified as an art teacher (k-12) in Spring 2010 or so.
It's a lot of work, a lot of juggling, and the most rewarding thing I've ever done.
What are your children's names and birth dates?
Felix, 9/2/2008
Are you considering having more?
in a few years
How would you describe your parenting philosophy?
It's impossible to spoil a baby.
What are your family's favorite places to hang out?
We love going to museums and galleries - I'm a painter and writer, my wife's a designer, and our baby's a fan of looking at big, colorful things.
What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?
I'd love that adjective to be "baby-proof," but it's more accurately "cluttered."
Describe your most humbling parenting moment.
The first time that my baby looked in my eyes and made it clear that he recognized my voice (he was about three hours old). It made me feel like every event in my entire life, and that of my wife, had been buildup for the birth of this beautiful new person.
Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?
Looking to meet other parents, obviously, but especially hoping to meet some parents with babies roughly the same age as my son (so they can socialize) or who are interested in playgroups, gallery/museum visits, etc (so we all can socialize)
