Profile Information
About My Family
I'm a stay-at-home mom with one totally awesome daughter. She's the one with the cool hair in my profile photo.
What are your children's names and birth dates?
Kiran Simone, 1
Are you considering having more?
Yes
How would you describe your parenting philosophy?
"Takin' it one day at a time"....or maybe "When in doubt, ask the internet!" Either way, when we found out I was pregnant, we read and researched tons about parenting because we knew nothing about it! It worked out okay, and today we are relaxed and in control.
What's your favorite parenting book (if any)?
Dr. Sears Discipline Book
What are your family’s favorite books and toys?
My daughter thinks "Ten Tiny Tickles" and "Big Girls Use the Potty" are the best books ever. She has tons of toys, I'm not sure if she has a fave.
What are your family’s favorite TV shows or movies?
I was really into G's to Gents while it was on. I also like Gordon Ramsay's shows. My husband likes anything on G4, and my daughter loves Yo Gabba Gabba! and Jack's Big Music Show.
What are your family's favorite foods?
Cauliflower...go figure
What are your family's favorite places to hang out?
Park, we don't have a yard of our own, so we like to get outside as much as we can.
What one adjective would you choose to describe your household?
Chillin'
What do you see your kids doing when they grow up?
Brain surgery or dancing, but not that kind of dancing
Describe your most humbling parenting moment.
My daughter took a huge poop in the tub recently. I am still shocked by how big it was, they just don't look that big in the diaper. I figured that since this poop was so big, she was done. She's still got shampoo in her hair so I take her out of the tub and scoop out the poop and disinfect. And while I'm cleaning the tub, she waits a few minutes and takes another poop by the sink, and this one has the added bonus of pee-pee! It smells so bad from the heat and humidity of the bathwater that I am doing everything I can to not throw up. (-I could only watch about 15 seconds of that 2Girls1Cup video before my stomach started flipping.) But I made it through and I cleaned it up and we finished her bath. I didn't get mad or upset, I just did it because I had to, even though I really just wanted to run away screaming.
It reminded me of parents who use comebacks with their older children like, "I used to change your diapers, you know!" So when my daughter is older and giving me lip, I can say, "I had to watch poop come out of your butt!" I'm sure she'll love that. But I hope I'm not still haunted by the sights and smells of that particular bath-time when she's that age. And yes, I make sure she goes now before we take a bath.
Who are you looking to meet on The Playground?
I actually enjoy staying at home with my daughter. I left a job where my salary was twice as much as my husband's so I could hang out with her until she goes to preschool. It has been hard on me financially, but I am also having one of the best times of my life with her! If you're cool with that, then I'm cool with you. I don't need anyone trying to make me feel bad about it (which unfortunately happens a lot), so if you want to start some mommy war crap with me, step off. I want our families to be friends!
