The French Made Me Have Babies!

carnaval de nice 2007

When I was traveling in the south of France with my husband in 2007 we experienced something we hadn’t expected. We’d arrived in February for the Carnaval de Nice, and being from New Orleans we thought it would be something like Mardi Gras. But after we settled in our hotel and hit the streets we had a bit of trouble finding a bacchanal. The…

Decisions, Decisions

Life doesn't come with instuctions. Neither do kids. Sometimes you have to just do the best you can and hope that it turns ok in the end. Once a decision has been made, do you necessarily need to stick it out to the end or if the oppurtunity to reverse the decision presents itself should you take it?

When every decision you make effects two little lives that depend solely on you, what do you go with? Your happiness or the safest route? Do you choose the path of least…

Soul Philosophy

In the existance of what is, only Thought, Feeling and Action remain prevelent.

As only the individual can decipher his/her own thoughts, feel his/her own feelings

and act wholly upon evidence of such.

What is GOOD and What is BAD remains a theory full of ambiguous and unending

opinions. Therefore what is thought to be good, is what feels good and is thus.

What is thought to be bad, feels bad and is thus.

Therefore, what is known concerning objectivity… Continue

SNOW DAYS FOR MOMMIES

Mommies don't get snow days. Not the real kind, the ones you remember as a kid, where you played in the snow, then came in and hot chocolate & popcorn while you watched movies and tv you don't get to see when in school. Nope we don't get that because there is still laundry, dishes, cleaning, and work that doesn't stop just because it snowed. And we get the added bonus of kids under foot who want snacks, tv, stories and play time with us.…

Too Much Birthday

I just survived a parent rite of passage for school-age children. Birthday parties. My six year old bought it home with her from school for a classmate. The kid is excited, parents nervous. I kinda got that first day of high school feeling. I could not decide what to wear or what present to buy. I went and had all our hair cuts and put us all in nice shirts and our best jeans.  by the way the birthday party was at mcdonalds play land. still… Continue

A 4 year old, Taylor Swift, and bubble guppies

My four year old has two two obsessions. Bubble Guppies and Taylor Swift. I am not very worried about one of them. the other a little. Let me explain Obsession to you. She carries a photo album filled with cut out Taylor Swift pictures. She has Taylor Swift Barbies and books on Taylor Swift.  She can sing along to all 3 albums I have.  She can locate the songs on my ipod. In the middle of a crowded restaraunt…

Teenagers who likes them? Wait I have 1 in my household.

I was a single mom who got abandoned (upon being a fiance) and cheated on my my ex while i was pregnant after a 3 yr relationship. He moved on further humiliating numerous women and dropping babies on many educated women. We all have motivation in common and should have been smarter than that. Oh well. No I do not see child support...still. He doesnt bother to acknowledge him and hasnt seen him in 10 years.

i gave birth to a boy where my family rarely see's a baby boy me having 6… Continue

Parent fail number 5,678: Setting boundaries

Parent fail number 5,678. Well, maybe I haven't made that many mistakes in my two years as a parent, but if you take to heart any of the info that you read from time to time, you would think that every time you breath you are committing a parent fail of one type or another.

Case in point. I was reading one of my many, many, magazines that seem to relentlessly land on my door step each day and I happen to take a gander at Bethenny Frankel's column in OK! magazine. Yeah, yeah – not the… Continue

I’ve mentioned before that I always receive special treatment when I go out with the kids here. Strangers help me carry things, offer me seats on the train and will tell jokes/make faces to entertain the kids. I think I notice the difference so much because people in big cities

Toddler Behavior Problems

When dealing with toddler behavior problems, always remember to hold your temper as much as you can or else you might regret things you never meant to do. If you know that you can't handle your child when he starts his tantrums, better let other family members acompany you in dealing with the situation. Our shot at salvation

Okay, just came back from seeing the stations of the Cross at our church with my mother in law and the boys. First of all, walk in and everyone has to have flashlights because it's candle lit (keep in mind the boys are 7 and nearly 8). Try to make sure that they don't trip over the candles and keep telling them to keep their flashlights out of my face through clenched teeth. There were 13 stations with about a page to read out loud at each one. It was wonderful and very touching until we got…

Spring Break in a Nutshell

Ok, I'll try to make this as brief as possible. Finally reach our destination, put a movie on for the boys and MC goes with Dad and I to the backyard so I can smoke (yes, I'm well-aware of how selfish this was due to the 2year old and my Dad who has had about every heart and health prob you can throw at him...but he still doesn't look his age). Gina, my sister's best friend comes over and has a beer with us and Ash gets off work. We have good conversation and I glance over. Someone threw Red…
