I just discovered the Ultimate Blog Party '09 and, while I'm too late to participate in the official party giveaways, I've decided to do one myself, anyway :-) I'm giving away a free print copy of my children's book "Two Snowflakes." Just click here for more info!Continue

I know this will only apply to those of you reading this who live in the MD area, but I'm actually going to be down in Anne Arundel County on April 1st, and I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I can do with the girls down there. My husband actually has an all-day work thing going on at Arundel Mills that day and, he might get a ride there in the morning, but he wants me to pick him up that evening... so, because I'll be out and about that day anyway, I'm trying to figure out how to best… Continue

Today is actually a little monumental for me. For some reason, certain things stick out in my memory, and I actually remember that it was exactly 18 years ago today (March 21, 1991) that I got both my driver's license and my first job (at McDonald's). I was 16, in my junior year of high school and, I think I remember the exact date because it felt monumental to me. At that time, I was so anxious to get out in the world and start living my life. And, these were my first major steps toward making… Continue

Well, I just got done preparing dinner :-p I'm making this new slow-cooker recipe that I found the other day and, I thought I was doing so good last night: Dave had to go to work early this morning, so last night I made his lunch, set out his clothes... and I even got a 30-minute session on Wii Fit in. I also made sure I started the beans soaking for this recipe before going to bed, thinking that was all the preparation I needed to do the… Continue

Since my girls are only 3, this topic hasn't really come up for us yet, but I don't think they'll have any problems accepting other children/people with disabilities, because they already know what it's like to be different.

Maybe this will only be funny to those of you with twins... because when you have twins, if you do something with one of them, you almost always do it with the other one. I know this not only from personal experience but having many, many other twin Moms confess the same things....
If one needs a diaper change, you change the other one at the same time, whether they really need it or not... if one gets an outfit dirty, you change both of their outfits (and, of course, one outfit can't be cuter… Continue

I'm sorry, but this has just been bugging me for a few days now. I'm not saying it wasn't a stupid thing to do, but I can't believe that some people (like some guy who wrote into CNN) actually equate Michael Phelps taking a bong hit at a party, with Chris Brown beating his girlfriend Rihanna to a bloody pulp. The two things are so not on the same level, it's really, REALLY not funny. Kellogg's dropping Phelps because of the bong hit? Come on... that's like Snapple funding anti-marijuana legislat… Continue
OK, I just had to post this because it made me laugh out loud :-p I'm still working hard on getting my book published and I suddenly remembered this morning that I actually have a copy of my book that I can send out... it's the copy that I made to show the family this past Thanksgiving... I was holding onto it because it was my only copy, but now I have my actual book :-)
So, I was looking around to figure out what publisher I should pick as my first choice to send this copy, too... well, I was… Continue

Well, I went ahead and just finished up my press release and I've actually submitted it to a few places, including the AP... which may be wishful thinking, but who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky :-)
Here's the final version of my press release that I'm submitting everywhere I can think of :-) (If anybody has any experience with this, and has any advice, I'd love to hear it! This is my first time doing something like this.) Regardless, I actually think it's an interesting read, if I do say so mysel… Continue

Earlier today, while I was working on the computer, I heard Josie in the bathroom running the water in the sink. Knowing she had probably taken her tea party dishes in there to fill them up, I yelled back there, "Are you making mess in there?" And she yelled back, "Yes!"
At least she was honest :-p

I've actually been studying up on press releases today, and I'm attempting to write my own :-) I think I need to edit this down some, but I've actually solicited some advice from people on the two twin boards I'm on to see what they think and if they'd like to add a quote (which might actually help me in editing this). Here's what I have so far, though:

OK, I just had to post about this... in one of my recent blog posts, I talked about the case of the woman who called 911 three times because her local McDonald's didn't give her the chicken nuggets she ordered. Now granted, they also wouldn't give her a refund for what she had already paid for the nuggets, and just kept trying to get her to take a substitution, but I kinda got into it for awhile because, it just kind of struck a nerve with me. My very first job was at McDonald's, so I know from… Continue

I actually got a copy of my book in the mail! Until I can find a publisher, that will help me market it more, I'm self-publishing my book "Two Snowflakes" through lulu.com. After I got everything set up, I just had to order my own copy :-p It looks so cool! I've had the pages printed out before, but it just seems so different for it to be in actual book form :-) Lulu did a really good job... even though it's technically a paperback, the cover is this r… Continue

Well, I had kind of an emotional day today. After the whole dinosaur debacle (see video below :-p) I took the girls to school... then we came home and they wanted their usual heart-shaped pancakes, but we were out of syrup or jelly or anything like that so I made them heart-shaped toast and eggs instead :-)
After awhile, I put the girls down for their nap and, while I was doing that, my cell phone started ringing. Well, I assumed it was my husband and I figured I'd just call him right back, aft… Continue

This morning, Josie came up and handed me this dinosaur keychain thing. I had never seen it before... but I knew it must've come from my stepkids, who are always leaving stuff laying around. My husband actually accidently discovered what it did in front of the girls, and of course, they couldn't get enough of it... and I made this video, to share my pain :-p

I usually try not to focus on negative things... but I'm going to indulge myself for a bit today :-p My topic today is pet peeves.
I'll start out by saying that yesterday, I got into a little rant on one of the forums I participate in, about the lady who called 911 because McDonald's didn't give her the chicken nuggets she ordered. Now granted, they also wouldn't give her the money back she paid for them, because supposedly they had a no refund policy and just kept trying to get her take someth… Continue
