It's only Wednesday, but so far Michael hasn't bitten anyone this week. (Knock wood.)

Our methods?
1. Daddy had a few talks with him on the way home in the car. I think they were along the lines of "Michael, no biting." "No bite!"

2. I ordered a book called "Teeth Are Not For Biting," which arrived last Friday. He likes it, especially the first 2 pages, which start with "Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!"

3. At the request of the teachers, he's been bringing a teething ring to school. I wasn't sure he'd like it, since he had something similar and never paid it much attention.

4. I've also given him pacifiers to chew on during the day.

So far, these things seem to be working, but we will see how it goes from here.

As for his adjustment to day care, it's pretty much complete. After the weekend, it's harder for him to say goodbye in the mornings, though. Monday he threw his teether down and cried. Tuesday he just threw the teether down. This morning he said "Bye Mommy." The teachers and I exchanged surprised expressions.

In general, my baby has been much less "high maintenance" lately. As his language and understanding have improved, so has his disposition. On Sunday, we took him to a restaurant after a long drive and he behaved really well.

It's a great feeling, even if it's only temporary. I've heard these things go in waves. Whatever, I'm going to ride this wave for all it's worth!

As of 10/31/08, biting has stopped, bullying in general is still a little problem.
