Mally, my trusted assistant. My liver, so to speak. She's a unique girl. She's about 24. Educated. Married to a man...who is a bit older. She doesn't have to work since she's gotten married, but she said she likes working with me. Which says a lot because I'm probably not a normal boss.
So the other night, I was working out/making sure I was reading the supply list for Daniella's (8) project at school. I'm sitting on the floor (just finishing up crunches and planks), and Mally was there. She got nauseous. She was like, "man. I don't know what's going on with me", and stated that she's been feeling cruddy for a while now.
Back track a bit: Her husband is about 41/42, something like that. He was very loving when he married her. but things got dry really quick. No communication. No sex. Just married in the legal sense. I know this because Mally is like family, and we (Kimberly and I) know everything. We all went to Miami for a few weeks this summer (I have property out there, so it was a rather convenient vacay). Mally came out for about 4 days with her husband (who conveniently had business out there that week). This guy is very serious. Very formal. Well, one of the nights Chris (my other good friend) thought it would be a good idea to get him drunk. Let loose. Well it worked. He was LOOSE. I never seen him act....normal. Apparently, he was all loving towards Mally and she took advantage of him being nice to her..and they made whoopy. After that, he was his old, mean self again.
Okay, back to the other night. So she kept getting sick. and after a while I was like, "are you pregnant???". But I was kinda joking. Because I knew for the most part, she wasn't having sex. But I KNOW morning sickness.
We ended up getting some pregnancy test for her. All positive. She cried. "He's gonna kill me!"
Kimberly convinced her to get confirmation from a doctor. Kimberly called her doc (who is also my OBGYN) and we was able to get her seen that night.
Yep. Pregnant. 8 weeks to be exact. which means she conceived the night her husband got drunk.
Mally was a mess. she just cried. Kimberly and I tried to tell her she's overreacting.
Worst case scenario, he leaves her. And he's not that type. As*y. But not that type.
If he did, she still has a job that can support her and the kid. And she'll have us as a support system.
She told him the news last night. This morning, she was happy....he is "elated".
I wasn't expecting him to be happy. He doesn't strike me as a kid lover. It was good to hear that it worked out for her.
Now the issue is that I can't work her like before. She's already a tightly wound person. Don't want to freak her out some more. A lot of what she does can be done from home when she can't travel.
The hardest thing is her 1st trimester means she shouldn't travel with me in the up coming weeks (i'm gonna be going like crazy). and her last trimester is another crazy time of the year for the business. And I don't want her to feel like she has to do like I did when I had my kids.
Mally is already saying she wants to be a "supermom" like me. Girl....it's not that super. ha!
I don't think she's the type that can pack her baby up and take them everywhere with her.
My husband is a bit miffed that she's pregnant...because I was starting to warm up to the idea of having a new baby around. But since Mally is pregnant, that will be the new baby around.
He says I'm being overprotective and i should just let Mally wing it.
He knows nothing. Having your first child is scary. Her mom isn't the warmest lady. I doubt she'll even tell her without pressure from Kimberly and myself. SO the only other people she knows that has kids IS Kimberly and I.
