Stumbled across a cool new website on Twitter called Where I’ve Been. It’s like Facebook—but if all your friends were travel junkies.

Signing up allows you to connect with people who are experts on different destinations—because they live there, have been there or are there now. So if you’re planning a trip to, say, New York, you can ask your new travel buds what places they recommend. Simple as that. And, in turn, you get to be an expert as well, sharing tips on your hometown and places you’ve been.

There are also your basic hotel/bar/attraction/restaurant/other listings, and a cool interactive map that lets you scout these out visually, but not every destination is covered in the same way or in as much depth (Toronto has a map, but Buenos Aires doesn't)—though I guess that’s where friends come in handy. The site is also short on destination info, even for profiled cities and countries—so if you’re looking for a travel-guide-like briefing and detailed suggestions, you’re better off elsewhere. But for the inside scoop and recommendations from fellow hipsters, you’ve hit the jackpot.
